Who we are
I am Deputy Chief Executive of Swindon based, Bible Society. I was previously founding Director of the think tank Theos and have a background in the media and public affairs. I am married to Ruth, and we have four young children.
Revd. Owen Green
I am a resident of Wichelstowe, a minister at ‘The Stowe,’ which is a Baptist Church based in Wichelstowe, a former experienced secondary school teacher, and leader of Wichelstowe Runners. I bring all of this to the role as DBAT Board member, with my passion for young people, education and faith.
Revd. Teresa Townsend
I have been on the Local Board for The Deanery since before there was a building or a name for the school and I remain dedicated to supporting the school as it opens and grows. I am an ordained minister in secular employment, serving my curacy in West Swindon whilst continuing to teach in a local primary school. Teaching in Upper Key Stage Two, particularly in Year Six, has given me the experience in supporting Year Six children as they transition from primary to secondary school and is an area that I am particularly interested in with regard to the new students to The Deanery. Being part of the Local Board has been an exciting journey so far and I look forward to seeing how the ethos and vision of the school truly comes alive when the students arrive.
I am currently the Housing Lead at a social consultancy - The Good Economy, based in Bath. I have a background in education, and youth work. I completed the Teach First scheme - teaching Maths in a central London secondary school. Since then I've worked for The Challenge, helping to deliver the NCS programme for 17-19 year olds, and also setting up and running an apprenticeship training provider. I also have experience of working with children leaving the care system. Outside of work, I enjoying mountain biking and board gaming. I live in north Swindon and have two young children.
I am a parishioner of Wroughton Parish Church and reside in the village with my husband, Ben, and our three girls. I have an academic background in Finance and Economics. My career was largely focused on investment analysis in the asset management industry. However, I also have worked in administrative roles, HR, and accounts. Education philosophy, libraries and music are areas of particular interest. I play the piano and my children play violin, harp and cello. I am delighted and grateful for the opportunity to support the vision of The Deanery to provide an outstanding, values-led education to children in the Swindon area.
Ex-officio Foundation Member
Revd. Dr Phill Harrison
As the Vicar of Wroughton and Wichelstowe, I look after the Church of England parish that includes the Deanery CE School and am an ex-officio member of the Local Board. I’m really excited about the once-in-a-generation opportunity to open a new Church of England secondary school in Swindon. I hope and pray that the way we run the school will make it a blessing to staff and students of all faiths and none. I have a professional background in management in the financial services industry and an interest in education.
I knew from a young age that I always wanted to be a teacher and that I always wanted to teach PE. I graduated as a secondary school teacher of Physical Education at the University of Gloucestershire in 2005. My path in education then took a different direction, where I followed the pastoral route, working in two very challenging, yet rewarding city schools; in Bristol and Birmingham. I am an avid sports fan and player, and I have recently been selected to represent Wales in the Home Nations and European Hockey Championships in 2019 and the World Cup next year. I play for Lansdown HC and will really enjoy playing Swindon HC on our fantastic new pitch! My other interests include the theatre, snowboarding and spending time with my family.
I am a certified accountant who has been working in the Finance industry for over 20 years. I'm married with two sons - the eldest of which had the pleasure of becoming one of the Deanery's pioneer students. I spend most of my spare time enjoying life with my young family but, as they become more independent, I now look forward to being able to give some of my time to the local board to support the school in achieving its vision.
Mark Glennerster (co-opted member)
Having worked in the construction industry for over 30 years and having previously held senior roles in large international engineering consultancies I have considerable experience in work on policies, procedures and budget setting. I look forward to bringing this experience to the role of Governor and help ensure that children at the Deanery are given the chance to maximise their potential and develop into confident members of society. I am married with 2 children aged 9 and 11 and have a keen interest in motorsport where I am an active competitor. I am a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers.
I am a qualified project manager who has 15 years experience working for a Local Authority. I have worked on a range of projects including events and organisational change but my main focus has been on the built environment, including the development at Wichelstowe. I have taken the lead on large scale procurement activities, managed construction projects from concept through to delivery and overseen the communications strategy, website and social media. I hope to bring the skills from my day job as well as my links with the community to my role on the Local Board. I look forward to working with the team at the Deanery to not only deliver an outstanding academic education but also students who grow to become strong, successful members of their communities.
I live and work in Old Town and I have two children currently in primary school - my main focus for the next ten years will be their education and the local environment where they grow up. It’s in all our best interests to nurture the children in our Community and give every single one of them the same opportunities to grow into the best adult they can be. All children deserve a fair and equal chance to succeed and I strongly believe a values-led school like The Deanery supports this and I am grateful for the opportunity to help shape the environment where this happens.
As an archaeologist/ historian I've following an odd career path and now work at Historic England in their national photographic archive, developing online services and partnerships. I live in Wroughton, a father of two, and I have previously served as a parent governor.
